You Ask, We Answer
What does WeGotWorkspace cost?
If you run it on your own server, it’s free. There will also be a version we host for you, on servers in Europe. We expect it in January; we’ll announce prices later.
Who is WeGotWorkspace for?
For anyone who wants to decide where their work lives: freelancers, independents and teams of up to ten people.
Can I keep using my own calendar, contacts and tasks apps?
Yes. Any app that supports CalDAV or CardDAV works, on Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. So far we’ve tested it with Thunderbird, Apple Calendar and Apple Contacts.
Where is my data stored?
In a place you choose. We call that sovereignty. And it has to be easy: if you can install a WordPress site, you can run WeGotWorkspace. Prefer our hosted version? Then your data lives on servers in Europe.
What if I ever want to leave?
Then you simply take your files and data with you. Your data is yours, and we use open standards, so you’re never locked in.
How do I know you won’t sell out to big tech?
Because we can’t. WeGotWorkspace BV is indirectly steward-owned. That means the company can’t be sold to parties that don’t share our mission. So your workspace stays in the hands of people who, like you, believe your data is yours.
How can I help?
Become a pioneer! Use WeGotWorkspace for three months and tell us what works and what could be better. You can also report bugs or share ideas on GitHub. Become a pioneer
What does open source mean?
The source code is public. Anyone can install WeGotWorkspace themselves, free of charge. And anyone can look along and help build it. That’s how a community of developers grows that makes the product better together.
What do I need to run it myself?
Regular web hosting with PHP is enough. Upload the ZIP and follow the installer in your browser. Have your own server? Then install it with a single Docker command. See the installation guide on GitHub
Can I work together with others?
Yes, live. You can see right away who’s writing along in a document or note, and you can suggest changes that others accept or reject.
How many people can join a video call?
Up to four people at a time for now. We’re working on raising that number.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The apps keep working when your connection drops, and sync your changes as soon as you’re back online.
Will there be a mail app?
Yes. In the version you run yourself, you get a mail client that connects to your existing email address. In our hosted version we’ll also take care of your mailbox later on.
Will there be a spreadsheet app?
It’s on our wish list. Do you need one? Let us know, so we know what to prioritise.
Is there an app for my phone?
You simply use the calendar and contacts apps that are already on your phone. And the web app works fine in your phone’s browser too.
Does the AI integration use my data?
Only if you want it to. The integration is off by default. Turn it on, and your own AI assistant, such as Claude, ChatGPT or Mistral, can work with your workspace on your behalf. For each app, you decide whether it can read, write, or nothing at all.
Is it ready for everyday use?
WeGotWorkspace is still in beta and changing fast. You can already work with it, but you’ll probably run into things that could be better. That’s exactly why we’re looking for pioneers.
Is there a roadmap?
Yes, it’s public. It shows what we’re working on and what’s coming next. See the roadmap on GitHub
